GSO Shrub App Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Greensboro Shrub Nursery ("we," "us," or "our") handles information when you use the GSO Shrub mobile application (the "App"). The App does not require you to create an account.

INFORMATION WE COLLECT

Shared lists

If you choose to create or join a live shared plant list, we store the name you provide, the plants and quantities on the list, checked or completion status, list membership credentials, and related timestamps. This information is needed to synchronize the list between invited participants. Anyone with a valid invitation link may be able to view the shared list and the name associated with it.

Assistant requests

When you use the intelligent assistant, the App may send your typed question or speech transcript, recent conversation context, the current App screen, and relevant plant-list details to our service and Cloudflare Workers AI to generate a response. We do not intentionally store assistant message content on our application server after the response is provided. Recent assistant conversations may be stored locally on your device for up to 30 days so you can view conversation history.

Lists emailed to the nursery

If you choose to email a plant list to the nursery, the App prepares a PDF and opens your device’s email composer. Your email provider then sends the message, sender information, and attachment to the nursery. We may retain received email as ordinary business correspondence so we can respond to your request.

Security and network information

Server requests naturally include network information such as an IP address. To prevent abuse of the assistant, we temporarily store a one-way hash derived from the connection IP address and a limited time window. It is used only for rate limiting and is periodically deleted. We do not use advertising identifiers, advertising analytics, or cross-app tracking.

INFORMATION PROCESSED ON YOUR DEVICE

Location

With your permission, the App uses precise location to show your position on the nursery map and support on-site navigation. GSO Shrub does not upload or store your precise location on its servers.

Camera and photos

With your permission, the App may use the camera or photo library for nursery guidance and user-selected features. GSO Shrub does not upload or retain camera imagery or photos on its servers unless you explicitly choose to send content through another service.

Microphone and speech recognition

With your permission, the App uses the microphone and Apple speech-recognition services to convert speech into text. GSO Shrub does not retain your audio recordings. Recognized text may be sent to the assistant as described above. Apple may process speech-recognition data under Apple’s own privacy terms.

NFC

The App may read a nursery check-in NFC tag to unlock on-site map features. GSO Shrub does not use NFC data for tracking or advertising.

HOW WE USE INFORMATION

We use information only to operate requested App features, including synchronizing shared lists, responding to assistant requests, handling plant-list inquiries, maintaining security, and preventing abuse. We do not sell personal information and do not use App information for targeted advertising or tracking across apps or websites.

HOW WE SHARE INFORMATION

We may share information only with:

• Service providers, including Cloudflare, that host and operate the App’s server, database, and assistant functionality.

• People you invite to a shared list.

• The nursery office and your chosen email provider when you choose to email a list.

• Government authorities or other parties when required by law or necessary to protect rights, safety, and security.

RETENTION

Local lists and conversation history remain on your device until you clear them, they expire under the App’s retention controls, or you uninstall the App. Shared-list information is retained while needed to provide the sharing feature or until deletion is requested. Email correspondence may be retained as reasonably necessary to respond and maintain business records. Temporary security and rate-limit data expires periodically.

YOUR CHOICES AND REQUESTS

You can revoke camera, microphone, speech-recognition, photo, NFC, and location permissions in iOS Settings. You can clear lists and assistant history inside the App. To request access to, correction of, or deletion of shared-list information or other personal information, contact us at https://www.gsoshrub.com/contact. Include the shared-list link when possible so we can locate the correct record.

CHILDREN

The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can review and delete it.

SECURITY

We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards designed to protect information. No transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

We may update this policy as the App changes. We will post the updated policy on this page and revise the effective date.
